The Schömberg Paediatric Neurology Clinic offers a particularly wide range of therapeutic options. Our therapeutic teams are responsible for planning and implementing treatment programmes tailored to each patient’s needs.
To help our patients develop, regain or maintain their ability to function in everyday life – and thus their ability to participate fully in life – we work together with patients and their families to develop individualised solutions. As we are convinced that we can only achieve good results when different skills, experiences and talents work together, our approach is interdisciplinary, involving close collaboration between doctors, nursing staff and therapists.
This not only makes the work in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, music therapy and speech and language therapy more interesting and varied than in many other clinics, but it also provides a special sense of fulfilment and the experience of long-term, sustainable success.

As an occupational therapist, you are familiar with the full scope of your professional field.
We make full use of the entire spectrum of possibilities to create solutions for our patients that are tailored to their needs and abilities – whether in the area of activities of daily living or in augmentative and alternative communication. The development of various therapeutic approaches and the use of orthoses are carried out in close collaboration with medical supply shops.
Our physiotherapy service focuses on individual, goal-oriented treatments for our young patients.
We place great emphasis on a holistic approach and always take into account the social and material environment, including parents and relatives. The physiotherapy team’s responsibilities include, amongst other things, identifying motor problems and carrying out developmental assessments in infants and young children.
The fact that we often provide long-term care enables us to develop targeted therapeutic approaches. A wide range of these is available at the Schömberg Children’s Hospital – from respiratory therapy, through scar treatment and lymphatic drainage, to therapeutic horse riding. In addition, through comprehensive parental counselling and the provision of assistive devices, we aim to achieve positive effects for the children’s everyday lives even beyond their stay in hospital.
Your role involves the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of communication, language, speech and voice disorders. It also covers swallowing disorders and difficulties with eating.
Where necessary, you will care for patients on ventilators in collaboration with the respiratory therapy team and may assist with weaning them off ventilation.
They use music to connect with patients.
In this way, they establish a non-verbal connection to their own resources and strengthen their own awareness and self-care through non-verbal means
